With the new MQTT broker for DIN rail mount Wiesemann & Theis GmbH (W&T) has expanded their range of IoT and Industry 4.0 products.
Benefits:
MQTT is an M2M protocol for data communication even over unstable connection lines and is finding increasing use in IoT and Industry 4.0. Various peers exchange data over a central distributor, the broker. Cloud services are often used as the broker. The MQTT.box on the other hand provides a ready to use broker for on-prem use and for operation as an edge service.
After once specifying the network parameters, the broker is configured over the web interface, including its user roles and their access rights. For enhanced security applications the MQTT box is equipped with a second network interface. This makes it possible to isolate MQTT clients in their own network segment. The broker also supports TLS encrypted data communication. The web interface provides a downloadable certificate for configuring the client. The back-end is based on the Mosquitto broker from the Eclipse Project, a widely tested and robust solution.
The device is powered as desired from a power supply or PoE. DIN rail mount makes installation in control cabinets possible. This makes the MQTT.box also ideal for use as an edge service in Industry 4.0 environments.
