Within the tolling road-side system, there are switches in the technical shelter area connected to a Web-I/O. If a switch is operated (ex: a door is opened) an SNMP trap will be sent to the monitoring system. It includes standard digital input and output signals for connection to peripherals in order to provide status of cabinet and gantry doors (open/closed), overvoltage protection and power converters. The WEB-IO is connected to Ethernet and supports SNMP for remote monitoring.
Depending on the requirements, in some projects, this device is also used when remotely turning off the power to the Primary tolling controller to activate the device on warm-standby.
A WEB-IO unit from W&T with 12 digital inputs is located in both the Power & Surge and Interface Cabinet. The WEB-IO monitors digital states and sends SNMP traps to the NMS for remote handling.
